Swords & Shields

A topic that has heaps of potential I think - and lots of fun to model. Hoping to get a few more entries to make this section sing:

Light Sabres

Mirco has been playing with the glow of these light sabres for some time, and has kindly sent them in for all to examine. His words:
"Here I have experimented a bit with custom channels for a StarWars-like lightsaber-glow effect. As a side-effect I modeled the lightsaber used by Luke Skywalker in the movie 'Return Of The Jedi'. The whole scale and amout of detail is quite good. The only drawback is that the white gleaming core of the saber does get blurred during fast motions of the blades. This hurts the original look from the StarWars-movies a bit. But I guess our community-gurus for VSL - David C. and Timo - are able to tune this without much effort. I should write a general question regarding this to the mailing-list soon. I hope you like it. Share and enjoy!"
By Mirco Müller.

Wooden Shield

Frank tells me he put some serious time into this one, despite trying to knock up something quickly ;) A great sheild for those medi-evil scenes. Textures are standard, and found on the Realsoft3D cd. By Frank (the not so Rookie now) Dodd.

Celtic Sword

Here's a model of a celtic dagger to get the swords and shields topic started. I only had a small reference image to go by, so I'm not sure the size is totally accurate, by Peter A. Hou
